New Addition to the Familiy

Meet the new addition to our little family, our new Weber Q 120. We have been wanting one for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger. The first night I grilled some burgers on it, and all I can say is Wow, I love the way this little grill cooks!!! We did have a smaller propane grill, but it would never seem to get hot enough and just wasen't up to the task.
So for anyone looking to upgrade your grill or thinking of a new one for your RV, you can't go wrong with this little guy. Other than that it's been pretty slow around the ranch lately, just finishing up the last of the doctors appointments and general day to day life. So until next time, as the saying goes......Keep lovin your life as we do ours!!!

New Flag on the Travel Trailer

I've been trying to figure out, for some time now, how to mount a flag on the Travel Trailer. I didn't want to drill into the trailer, and several of the other options availible are pretty expensive. Then one day, not to long ago, it dawned on me, a regular flag pole holder (like you mount on your house) a U bolt and mount it to the tounge jack. I gather up the parts and low and behold it worked.
As you can see the U bolt holds the flag holder just right, it has also been through some pretty good wind storms here and held up perfectly. So for those of you out there having the same delema I was, there is another option for you.
All in all I'm very happy with the result and belive it turned out pretty darn good.

Back at Holloman

We had planned on staying an extra week in El Paso since Sheryl had another follow up appointment on Tuesday. However we got some good news, Sheryl got word from the Social Security Adm that her disability claim had been APPROVED!!!!, Wow what a relief............ We decided to head back to Holloman and see if we had gotten any info in the mail and when she may start getting her benifts. No Mail, so we called and it looks like no benifits until Sept, (6 months plus one from the time you filed....darn, oh well it will be nice when it does start. Now she can relax and get on her way to healing after the surgery. We will be back in El Paso Tuesday for another appointment and we'll let you know how things go. Ok, until next time...............

Red Sky over El Paso

Last night we had quite the storm come through the El Paso area. Didn't get too much rain here at the campground, but we did get a lot of wind. The sun just happened to be going down during the jist of the storm and provided us with an amazing Blood Orange colored sky.

Ft Bliss Fam Camp, El Paso, Tx.

Our first real trip out with the Travel Trailer happened thursday. Sheryl was scheduled to have her back surgery in El Paso on Friday, so we decided to pack up the trailer and stay at the Ft Bliss Fam Camp here in El Paso for a week. This will Sheryl time to recover with out having a hour or so drive back to Alamogordo right away. The Cherokee towed our little home quite well, we kept the speed at 60 mph and made pretty go time. We stopped just outside Alamogordo for a quick check of things and al was well.
We pulled into the Fam Camp about an hour and a half after leaveing Holloman and what a nice place this is. The RV pads are pretty large and level, the landscaping in nice with trees at most every lot. We asked for a site near but not too close to the clubhouse and discovered an added benefit, we can pick up the WiFi from the clubhouse here!!! Nice.

Another added benefit are the sunsets over the mountains behind the park.
Quick update, Sheryl did have her surgery and all went well, she was released the next day (Sat) and is recovering nicely, still pretty sore, but recovering. Well thats it for now, so until next time.........................

New Babies

A couple of posts ago you may have remembed we had a couple of little birdies build a nest in our overhang, there were 4 little eggs all tucked down among the feathers. Well we noticed a lot of chirping yesterday and low and behold we saw these little guys pop their heads up.
All 4 of them hatched and they sure do alot of chirping for momma to come and feed them. The next thing we will be looking for, is for them to fly the nest, and with any luck they'll make it just fine.

Another modification we made, was an extended shower rod. The rod holds the shower curtain out away and gives you alot more room in a small shower stall. You can see the original shower curtain track and how much more room it gives you. This little modification is one of the better ones we have made to date as far as funtionality and making life just a little bit better.

Old Town Mesilla, NM

Earlier in the week Sheryl and I had to go down to El Paso for a Doctors appointment, on the way back we decided to to stop by Old Town Mesilla, just south of Las Cruses. The Historic Old Town area still stands as it did when it was first built, it has been very well preserved and the only real changes have been paving the streets and modern utilities.

Mesilla was the largest town between San Antonio, TX and San Diego, CA along the Butterfield Stagecoach Line (forerunner to the Pony Express)

The old curch still stands at the head of the town square and is still in use today.

All the old building now house gift shops, restraunts and galleries. The old Courthouse stands on one corner of the square, this is where Billy the Kid was tried for murdering a Sheriff in Linclon CO. NM.

The Town Square has a nice Gazebo and several historic markers.

We had been told, that for great Mexican food we just had to eat at the La Posta in old Mesilla. Well, since we were here, and it was dinner time, and we just happen to love good Mexican food, we thought we'd give it a try. All I can say is we were not disappointed!!! What a great little place with lots of history and great food. We shared a Fajita plate and there was plenty for each of us to have two good sized ones along with all the sides, some of the best Fajitas we have ever had. So if you ever make down to the Las Cruses/Mesilla NM area, be sure not to miss this little gem.
We then headed home all full and happy. Another little off the beaten path place explored, just another reason we are loving this lifestyle and our life.
