Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Texoma, TX.

We are back in Oklahoma City after a great weekend at Lake Texoma, TX. Family and friends started filtering in and out on Friday, staying one, two or all three days. There was lots of good food, good conversation and a whole lot of relaxing, especially for all the family as they still have jobs (poor souls...lol) The park doesn't have a real beach per say, but more of a low sandy area, it is still a great place to soak up some sunshine. You can see Sheryl, my daughter Kayla, Clara and the puppies enjoying the shallow water. At the end of this month we'll be headed to Dallas, as Kayla will be giving us a bouncing new grand baby.

Our Grand daughter Clara having tooooo much fun.
Even Scrappy got in on the action. I'll spare you any shots of us out of shape adults, besides kids and dogs are so much cuter.
The evenings were filled with campfire chat and smorers. Again we had a great time, it was nice to see everyone again and get everyone together as it doesn't happen very often.

That's all for this post, I'll post some more overview pictures of the campground in our next episode, should you wish to stop by this nice military campground. So until next time, keep Lovin Your Life as we do ours!!!

Lake Texoma, TX.

We made in to Lake Texoma and the Sheppard AFB Recreation Annex. We got in a little later than expected do to a little RV drama (see below) We scored a nice site, right on the end of the row, so nothing but nice views out the front door. The park is pretty empty right now, but we are expecting it will fill up as the holiday weekend approaches.

The Drama began as we exited I-35 to head toward the lake. I stopped at a truck stop to use the little boys room in the RV while Sheryl finalized our route to the lake. As I walked back to the door, I notice something a bit out of place. From a distance it just looked like dirt on the tire, but nope, I was greeted with the above..........choice word, choice word!!! We found a good ole Walmart and headed there for a tire, too our surprise the only tires they had in our size (standard LT235/85/16) as on most 5th Wheels were high dollar All Terrain tires. Luckily the tire guys directed us to a local tire shop who had just what we needed. The Tire Shop, had us back on the road in a jiffy, they were great folks and I'm glad we found them. Can't remember the name of the shop, but it was in Gainsville, TX. Another bit of drama and a quick Oh What The He%$ happened moment, somehow when making the sharp turn out the the tire shops lot, the emergency trailer brake pulled out of it's holder, not a lot but just enough to be lose. We were on our way and some how the pin popped out completely right in the middle of an intersection as we made a left turn. The brakes locked up and we were dead in the water blocking 4 lanes of traffic, Lets just say many unhappy people were showing there support!!! I quickly figured out the problem, replaced the pin and we were back on our way......quite the adventure for such a short trip, but we laughed it off and chalked it up to the RV experience.

The is no WiFi in the park, however they do have a land set up in the clubhouse, they even have the cords for you to plug in and get online. I'll get some more shots of the park up before long, but until then, I'll leave you with last nights sunset as seen from our rig.............ahhhhhh.

Heading To The Lake

Wed morning we are headed to Lake Texoma on the Texas side and to the Shepard AFB recreation area. We have never been there and it's difficult to find many pictures of the place, so we'll play it by ear. We do have a full hook-up site reserved for 5 days, so it should be a nice weekend. The main reason we hare going is, we were able to get most all our kids to come camping for Memorial Day weekend. As you can tell by the well stocked fridge, we will all be eating pretty darn good!!! It's looking like 13 in attendance if everyone shows, this includes some of our kids friends also. We are looking forward to the weekend and spending time with the kids.

On a different note, I don't know whats in the air all of a sudden here in the OKC area, but Sheryl's allergies have gone crazy! I even noticed I have sneezed a couple of times and I have no known allergies and to top it off, poor Scrappy has been having some pretty serious sneezing fits himself and that's a first. The news said the grass and mold count was really high, so maybe it's one of them tearing into poor Sheryl and Scrappys nose. Hoping the change in climate by the lake will help them out.

That's it for now and we'll see you sooner than later if the area has a WiFi Signal, if not looks like Monday when we arrive back in OKC will be catch up day, so until then.....................

Sore Back, But a Nice Reward

Oh! My aching back......kidding, our daughter was cruising the free section of Craigslist the other day and ran across a piano that was being given away. She called the lady and found it to be in good shape, they were moving and just didn't want the hassle of moving it anymore. Of course, Kaileigh call yours truly (the only one she knows with a truck) and asked if I could help Josh go and get it. I said yes of course, and the next day, Josh, a friend and myself headed to pick it up. (of course no pictures of the gaggle of getting it) but here it is in it's new home. The piano is from 1914 and plays very well, Kaileigh is very happy!!!

That evening we were sitting around chatting and I mentioned getting a center speaker for our TV. Like most new TV's the speakers seem to be in the back and bounce the sound off the wall. This is fine, it just seems we have to have the TV turned up pretty loud to really hear it. My theory was to hook up an external speaker and point it forward for better sound at a lower volume. Anyway, as we were chatting, she says, we have an extra surround sound system in our bedroom we are not using, if that would work you can have it. Again, I said sure. We brought it home, hooked it up and wow what a difference, nice clear sound at a much lower volume, don't have to blast the neighbors out of their rig anymore! An added bonus, the surround sound system is the same brand as our TV, so now one remote works both.

All in all a pleasant day helping the kids, and that's what it's all about. Take Care and see you back here again soon.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

Well, as usual a day late and a dollar short, but HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the ladies out there!!! We had a really nice Mothers Day, however we did our Saturday night at Kaileigh's house. We also invited Kaileigh's Grandmother, so we had three generations of Mommies in the house. As pictured above, Sheryl got some nice flowers and a balloon from her daughter and I got her a Safire Necklace she has had her eye eye on. We had a great time with the family once again.

Today, I had a Mobile RV Repair Service come out and service our A/C. It has been freezing up and water has actually been dripping on the floor from it, so I know it was dirty. He came out, showed me just what he was doing every step of the way and seemed to do a good job. The A/C was pretty dirty both inside and out. I try and do these things myself, however never messing with it before, I wanted a pro to come out and take care of it the first time. Now that I know what and how to do it, it'll be an easy maint item to take care of. I also got a good price quote on a new slide awning (our is tore up pretty bad from age and the winds.) so we'll have him order us one and have it installed when we figure out our travel schedule.

That's it for today, again Happy Mothers day to all and we'll see you back here again.

Procrastination and Pizza Pizza

Several months ago, on our return trip from Florida to New Mexico, we had the pleasure of travelling I-10 thru Louisiana. For those of you who have travelled this fine roadway, know what I'm talking about. Well during that fine strip of pavement, we were bopping along at a moderate 60mph, when the pavement seem to just drop out from under us, (very bad area in the road) with no warning. We almost lost control (it was that bad) and shook us up pretty good. We regained our composure and pressed on to our days destination. Upon setting up for the night, we found that bump in the road had destroyed all the shelves in our rear entertainment center, luckily the TV is mounted well, so it survived. I had taken all the shelves down and moved the stereo equipment to another area and just left it at that, until the other day when the mood struck to rebuild. Of course the story would have been more dramatic with a before picture, but I just started the rebuild and forgot all about it. So after a Home Depot trip and an hour or so of wood cutting and framing we are better than new. It's nice to have the rig looking normal again.

After working up an appetite, we headed over to visit Josh and Kaileigh and decided Pizza was in order. They brought up the normal chain pizza places (not that there bad) but I asked if there was a good local pizza place around. Well, that triggered there mind and they remembered a great little place just south of town in Norman, OK.  The plan was set and off we went and a bit later we arrived at the Pizza Shuttle. This is definitely a local place in a college town, the food was great and the prices were right, can't beat that. Again I was a day late and a dollar short on pictures as we had the pizza almost devoured before I remember to get a shot of it, that's how good it looked and was.

It was a nice day and we gave thought to eating out on the patio, until we noticed the accommodations, thought better of it and ate inside at a more sturdy table. Local places have there own atmostsphere and that's why we like them so much.

Another day down, looks like we'll be taking a side trip to Kansas and the family farm later next week, before heading down towards Dallas next month. So that was our day, it's great spending time with the kids, but will be time to move on soon. Take Care and we'll see you back here again!!!

Bombing Range and Escapees

Here in Oklahoma the local bird population has seemed to take a disliking to our truck. Of curse they must be Air Force birds here on the base as they are using the truck as a bombing range. You can see they are pretty well on target and I'm saving you the horror of the full aftermath of their air assault, lets just say "it ain't pretty".....lol

Our daughter offered up her driveway to wash away the scares of the battle. So after a hour of scrubbing and shining, Ole Reds all purdy again.

Kaileigh and Josh also have a new puppy, a cute little white haired lab mix, and our little Scrappy has taken a smitin to her. However like most men who only have one thing on the brain, Scrappy follows her everywhere and gets into everything she does. As in the other day, she taught Scrappy how to dig and play in the dirt/mud in the back yard, while we were gone for a bit. It was quite the sight to see when I pulled up in the driveway to see two little puppies at the front door, just proud as punch that they had escaped the confines of the back yard. What was even cuter, is when they decided they could be in trouble for their daring escape and both high tailed it for the hole it the fence. Of course they were doing this as I was parking, so I just had to laugh. When it was all said and done, poor Scrappy was dirty/muddy from head to toe and got the same treatment as Ole Red the day before.

Thats it for today, so keep Lovin Your Life as we do ours and we'll see you back here soon.

Great OKC Doctors

What a busy week, spending more time with the kids, Sheryl dealing with her back pain, seeing doctors and general day to day activities, make me tired just remembering it all.....lol.

Lots of good news this week though. The new doctors here on OKC have been great and much more helpful than those in small town New Mexico. We both really like our new Primary Care Doctor, very personable. Her new Cardiologist is great, ran tests right away to get a good base line and make sure everything is going well with her heart.

One of the main reasons for coming to OKC, was to contact the Laser Spine Institute to see if they could help with Sheryl's back issues. We made a appointment for an initial consult, we took her MRI from Feb 12 with us and they found a few trouble spots. However with Sheryl's increase in pain since those were taken, they sent us over for a new MRI and X-Rays. We went back the next day and received good news/bad news. Bad news was, she is not a candidate for their laser surgery (we were crushed) However, the Good News, the neurosurgeon who we met with, showed us exactly what was wrong and causing her pain, he also explained what procedure was needed to take care of it and referred us to the right doctors to do it. He went on to explain, the insurance companies will not pay for them (neurosurgeons) to do the procedure she needs, as it can be done by a Pain Management doctor for much less and insurance will take care of it. After some thought (later in the day) we both realized what a good thing this turned out to be, no back surgery, no possible trip to Florida to have it done, and we should beable to have her taken care of much sooner.

Ok, now I must give a plug for the Laser Spine Institute, they were by far the best and most professional medical office/company we have ever dealt with. Customer service is #1 in their book. During your initial consultation, a Neurosurgeon sits down with you and looks at you MRI with you, he explains everything he sees and gives you honest information. If you need further MRIs/X-Rays, they have a shuttle which takes you to the various locations and returns you to their office. They provide a Cafe with in their office with free breakfast and lunch while you wait, the staff was also amazing. We can not say enough good about this company, even though they could not help us. We would highly recommend them if you are having any serious back pain, and their procedure in minimally invasive. They have offices around the country and you can find them Here .

That's all for now, have more to blog about but I don't want to make this entry too long. We are both excited about the excellent care Sheryl has been getting here in OKC and just wanted to relay that to everyone. See ya back here soon!!!
